Arnaud-Jean's personality is arrogant, crude and seemingly bored with everything in his life. His sense of humor is dry and tasteless.

Kestrel on the other hand; being the only persona in which Arnaud-Jean could feel free to say what he thinks, and not have to adhere to social status, his demeanor in everything he does is much different than what is perceived from his 'rich' side. He has a deep love for the people, and while he may not understand their pain as they do, he understands why the poor steal and the hungry beg. He feels they shouldn't need to do so. His thoughts on the matter of the relationship between the rich and poor is actually very communistic.

▫ Biography: Arnaud-Jean Gassendi was born to Magdalene-Diane Dupret and Alderic Gassendi, his mother dieing shortly after he turned the age of six from pneumonia. His father went to law school, where he studied to be a Lawyer, but a lucrative opportunity landed him a job as the assistant of a well standing Politician. This occupation would cause him to drag his son all across Europe with him, until finally settling in Venice.

Before his travel around Europe, Arnaud-Jean met a man who only called himself Dumant, who had saved him from harassment from men he later found out to be Templars. Dumant taught him about caring for the people and their troubles, and even taught him some tricks of his trade before his sudden disappearance just before Alderic had made plans to leave Nice, France. On his journey around Europe, he continued to receive private schooling and fencing lessons, as his father had paid the boys tutor to come along in order to continue his lessons.

Seeing the hardship of the outlying lands around Rome, the hostilities towards the poor in cities, Arnaud-Jean decides to be the poor man's advocate. At first his deeds started at challenging and killing guards to save a citizen from their wrath. However, open practice of these adventures earned him much scorn from his father and authorities. Leading him to take on the persona of "Kestrel" a care free vagabond with the heart of the people in mind. And so he has been ever since, though he never thought about joining the Assassins in Venice until recently.
